Mr. Clare is a 1982 cum laude
graduate of Fordham University, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science with a minor in Spanish. Mr. Clare earned his J.D. degree with honors from St. Louis University in 1986. Thereafter, he served as Law Secretary to the Honorable Edward F. Neagle, Jr. , Judge of the Superior Court of New Jersey, Essex County.
From 1987 to 1990, Mr. Clare was an Assistant Prosecutor in Morris County, New Jersey, where he was, at various times, the Director of the Morris County Juvenile Unit, The Director of the Vehicular Homicide Unit and a member of the Adult Criminal Trial Unit. In addition to litigating dozens of Wade, 4th Amendment and Miranda hearings and presenting matters to the Grand Jury, Mr. Clare tried over 75 jury and non-jury criminal matters. From 2004 to 2008 Mr. Clare was appointed as the Readington Twp. Municipal Public Defender.
Since 1990, Mr. Clare has focused his practice on civil litigation, defending medical malpractice, dram shop, Title 59 and, auto and premises liability cases. He handles all aspects of his cases, from discovery through trial and the post-verdict appellate process, developing and implementing defense strategies that are tailored to each case and client. Special emphasis has been placed in the defense of medical malpractice and hospital liability claims as well as the defense of health care practitioners before the various New Jersey State Boards of Examiners. Mr. Clare is regularly engaged in the trial of civil litigation matters in the Superior Court of New Jersey and the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey.
Mr. Clare was admitted to the New Jersey State Bar and the Bar of the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey in 1986. He was admitted to the Bar of the United States Court of Appeals, Third Circuit, in 1988.
